Currently I am busy with upgrading the Vmware Infrastructure 3.5 to vSphere 4.0. I just finished upgrading the management ESX hosts and upgrading the management server to hardware version 7. With VI 3.5, you can have up to 4 CPU’s only per VM. The Virtual Center is running on 4 CPU and 4 GB of RAM.
There are some issues with my current Virtual Center because it always running out of memory and CPU. The current setup has it seems has exceeded the maximum recommended limit by Vmware maximum configuration matrix by having more than 200 hosts and 2000 virtual servers. Hopefully by this upgrade it will resolve that issue.
VMware Infrastructure Client could not establish the initial connection with server “localhost” or “IP_Address” of the Virtual Center server.
I tried to login from my computer when I got this error. Then, I remotely accessed the server and tried to login again, I got the same error. Upon checking the services, I found out that the VMware Virtual Center service is not running. I started the service back and VC is running again now.
Troubleshooting ESX host not responding using vmware checklists.
I ran into this issue while trying to patch ESX hosts. I was able to turn off HA for the cluster and then turn it back on successfully, but it is important to wait for ALL of the ESX Hosts to complete the “Unconfiguring HA” process before enabling HA for the cluster again. This can take several minutes or more minutes on the ESX hosts.
Could not find a valid datastore on host xx.xx.xx.xx.
Usually this is caused by insufficient storage space in the ESX hosts. To solve this, you need to increase the storage for the ESX hosts.
