Author: W32AuthConnectionLaunch: Reply error “Cannot power on the virtual machine. This may be because you are running inside a Terminal Services or Remote Desktop session or are in Fast User Switch Mode.
I received this error after trying run my virtual machine that I copied my backup file to the freshly installed Win 7. It was running fine on my previous Windows Vista 64-bit. Looking at the error, I can’t see any way that I can disable the Fast User Switch Mode in Win 7.
The solution that worked for me is to run the Vmware Workstation using administrative right by right click and run as administrator.
